MILNE Bay has the right ingredients to facilitate agriculture development in a big way, a visiting Israeli business manager said.

Eran Gal-or, the country manager for Innovative Agro Industry Ltd, a subsidiary of Israeli agro-industry firm LR Group, said this during the closing of a three-day fact-finding visit to the province for potential agriculture-related development.

Gal-or said unlike other provinces, Milne Bay had good sea ports and sea transportation system that could support major agricultural projects.

The province also has existing road networks to connect some of the potential sites, available land and communities which really want agriculture development.

He also observed that the provincial administration officers in divisions such as agriculture and livestock, fisheries and marine resources, commerce and mining knew their work and could take the lead in any agriculture or fisheries development.

The Milne Bay provincial government invited the Israeli company to undertake the study.

Gal-or, accompanied by Milne Bay Governor Titus Philemon and other provincial government officials visited Punipuni and Bubuleta in the Maramatana LLG, Sagarai and Suau to see the potential for agriculture development.

Gal-or will make his recommendation to his company on whether they can assist agricultural projects in the province.

The company currently has major agriculture projects in NCD and Hela and plans to extend to other provinces.

Philemon thanked Gal-or and the LR Group for accepting the invitation for the fact-finding visit.
