RAMU NiCo Management (MCC) Ltd has taken the initiative by involving external organisations to train their employees to boost the technical capabilities and competency.
The nickel/cobalt mine developer in Madang province recently invited Pacific Crane and Engineering Ltd a nationally-owned company to conduct basic scaffolding training for its employees in the anti-corrosion section at Basamuk refinery in Rai Coast.
Ten scaffolders attended the training comprising seven Papua New Guineans and three Chinese.
The training covered a two-day theory, two-day practical and a half-a-day assessment.
The classroom session included introductions to the basic types of scaffolding and the skills of erecting, modifying and dismantling them.
