Ramu NiCo observes China safety month

THE Ramu NiCo Management (MCC) observed the China safety month at the company’s operations base in Madang recently.
Assistant president Meng Deyong emphasised that all employees should reach a common understanding of safety production, intensify safety awareness and education to improve safety management at all levels within the company.
The theme for this year’s event was: “Risk prevention, hazard elimination”.
The employees participated in a number of safety drills including fire extinguishing, drawing and safety awareness poster display.
The company said in a statement that as a responsible nickel/cobalt mine developer in the country, it continued to encourage its employees to observe health and safety and emphasise safety consciousness.
The company said Ramu NiCo valued occupational health and safety for all its employees, contractors, general public and its stakeholders as a priority.
It said this formed an integral part of the management of its operations at both its Basamuk refinery and Kurumbukari mine.
The company aims to achieve a high standard occupational health, safety and environment management which complies with all PNG legislation and regulations to ensure the company’s responsibilities under law are observed.
