THE Media Council of PNG (MCPNG) staged a successful media expo last Friday where hundreds of people tuned up at Holiday Inn, Port Moresby, to see the various services and products from the respective media organisations.
Organisation that had stalls included The National, Post-Courier, Sunday Chronicle, Wantok, NBC/Kundu2, NauFM and YumiFM, FM Central, Telikom PNG, PNG Event Company, PNG Law and Justice Sector of the Justice Department and other minor media agencies.
Visitors were mainly representatives from the corporate sector, Government departments and statuary bodies who do most of their advertising through the media.
Among them were representatives from the Government’s monthly newsletter Gavamani Sivarai.
Keen school children from the city also had their chance of touring the various stall asking questions on the products and services each media organisation provided.
MCPNG president Joe Kanekane said the expo was aimed at informing and demonstrating that PNG media was co-evolving with the changing media environment.
“Like other media systems, PNG media is also being edged by the onslaught of technological advances, evolving market needs and turbulent media environment.”
Mr Kanekane said PNG media organisations were adjusting and thrived to do their best.
