THE PNG Media Pool Competition is beginning to gain momentum as teams jostle for pole position before heading into the second round of competition in Port Moresby.
Tournament director Joey Chan said all 20 teams had three or four matches left to play in round one, which will be completed on Nov 7, before cuing off round two.
Pebbles lead the competition with 42 points, having won 14 of their 16 matches thus far.
Cool Grafix (38) have climbed to second spot on superior points differential while previous competition leaders Mirror (38) have dropped to third followed by Poi Nangu (36) and Tourism PNG (33) on fourth and fifth respectively.
Defending champions Heli Solutions Spin Doctors (31) maintain sixth spot while Department of Mining (30) and Lamana (27) round out the top-eight.
The match of the round tomorrow will see Poi Nangu take on the might of competition leaders Cool Grafix (12:30pm cue-off).
Poi Nangu have recruited well in the off-season, bringing in marksman Kelly Yambi who will lead from the front against an equally determined Cool Grafix outfit.
The other match to look out for will be Spin Doctors against Fast-Cool Strikers. The Strikers have been holding their own against seasoned teams but Spin Doctors will look to avoid an upset.
