I write to highlight the issue on the lack of development in the Kairuku district of Central province. There have not being any new major infrastructure development in the district in the last 40 years. Schools and hospitals are run down. All rural roads in the district are also run down with no maintenance over the years. The MP recently visited the Bereina Mekeo access roads with promises to fix them and the people are stillwaiting. Can the Central governor assist the MP with co-funding from the provincial PSIP to fix this road? The MP’s excuses that Kairuku Hiri district is too big for his DSIP funding are no longer acceptable by the Mekeo people. He needs to look at options and action either by partnering with the provincial government, national government and donor agencies or seek a public private partnership.
