THE Don Bosco Technical School’s Knights of the Altar members, alongside Don Bosco Technical Institute Catholic parish youths in Port Moresby, held a Knights and Lilies of the Altar formation on Saturday.
The formation focused on assisting the clergy during religious ceremonies, such as Mass or other liturgical events.
The event which attracted more than a hundred youth was led by Fr Albert Lenon, priest in charge of the Mary Help of Christians Shrine, East Boroko, and Sisters Joy and Joachinah of the Missionary Charity Sisters.
The youths were taught about the Meaning of Liturgy, Liturgical Year: Church Seasons and Colours, differences between lectionary, sacramentary and missal aspects, liturgical cycle, calendar,
solemnity, feast, memorial, optional memorial, and ferial days.
The youth received instruction on the importance of liturgy and guidance on things altar servers were required to know.
The atmosphere was calm and conducive to learning.
“Based on my personal experience, the formation proved highly interactive, allowing us to delve deeply into the significance of the liturgy and the Holy Mass,” said Ryan Miwasa, a parishioner from Gabutu.
