A GROUP of men employed by the National Capital District Commission as informal sector inspectors claimed they are still waiting to be paid wages and benefits – dating back to 2009.
The 124 men from all parts of the city met last weekend and demanded that NCD Governor Powes Parkop and city manager Leslie Alu pay them.
“We are not asking Parkop or Alu to pay us from their pockets. All we ask is for them to give us what is rightfully ours – pay for our sweat,” spokesperson Tau Abol said.
John Tuli, from Maramuni, Enga, said he was a ranger who was injured by street vendors while carrying out orders from the city management in 2009 but was never compensated for his injuries.
