Mendi hospital needs facilities

Letters

I CALL on Kandep MP Alfred Manase and Enga Governor Sir Peter Ipatas to assist Mendi Hospital increase its capacity so that it can cater for extra patients coming from Kandep.
Kandep people have accessed Mendi Hospital since the opening of the sealed road from Mendi to Kandep.
Comfortable road network and low transport costs have attracted Kandep people towards Mendi rather than Wabag.
Main humanitarian aid service accessed by Kandep people with fear and intimidation is hospital.
Kandep people can be asked by the medical officers through their dialect or Tok Pisin.
Most times they were asked what really happened to their health facilities.
Their reply was due to tribal fight, most of their health centres were closed. The situation is beyond innocent people’s control but they deserve better health care.
Leaders must take immediate action to safeguard their interest.
The MP and governor must counter fund and build hospital wards and subsidise medicines for Mendi Hospital. Assistance from both leaders will give some sense of freedom to Kandep patients.
Mendi Hospital was structured to cater for five Southern Highlands’ districts.
