Menyamya and development

Letters

MENYAMYA district is the least-developed in Morobe.
Over the past 15 years, effective delivery of services and development has been lacking despite respective parliamentary representation.
District service machinery is at a deteriorating state.
State-owned land is grabbed by the local land-grabbers and the validity of issuing this land must be investigated.
District administration buildings are far worse than they used to be with very little or no maintenance.
Staff houses are occupied by retirees and non-performing staff and others of their own will.
Occupancy of State-owned land has turned the district headquarter into an outstation not matching district administration standards.
The same old district departmental heads are still occupying positions with little or no improvements to services.
For example, the head of health and education departments has held the position for over 15 years now.
Menyamya district hospital is very ineffective and not up-to-date in its delivery of health services, likewise, education services.
The current election petition in court is not good for development and service delivery. The flow of services and development must not be hindered.
People’s interest must be upheld, given the pressing local issues in the district which I’ve highlighted.
