ST Mary’s Vunapope Hospital and Nonga General Hospital in East New Britain recieved five new laptops donated by Microsoft Sydney Australia last week.
Officials from Microsoft Sydney were in Kokopo recently at the invitation of John and Sandra Lau of Tropicana Ltd. The Laus took their visitors on a tour of Vunapope Hospital.
The visitors made a commitment to return home and send back new laptops for the hospitals.
Last Wednesday, the laptops were presented to Vunapope administrator Albert Seri and Nonga director of medical services Dr Patrick Kiromat by Sandra Lau.
Four laptops were given to Vunapope and one was given to Nonga.
Kiromat and Seri thanked Lau for her ongoing support to the health sector in the province and conveyed their gratitude to Microsoft Sydney on behalf of their hospitals.
Seri commended the business community in East New Britain for its undivided support to the hospital over the years.
He said the Lau family had done a lot for the hospital together with other business houses such as Rapopo Plantation Resort, Manalos Helicopters, Marlins Ltd, Provincial Health Authority and MPs.
Seri said the four laptops would be distributed to the physiotherapy ward, dental ward, doctors’ library and to hospital administration to plan workshops and trainings.
