DEFENCE Force commander Brig-Gen Francis Agwi will not comment on the border incursion by an Indonesian military helicopter three weeks ago.
“Due to the sensitivity of the matter and relations between the countries, I cannot say anything until the Foreign Affairs Department has made a public statement on the matter,” he said yesterday.
In the wake of the border incursion, landowners in West Sepik said they were prepared to give up ownership of their land to facilitate the set-up of a trade centre in the province.
Warapu local Henry Amunti said landowners from Warapu, Ningra and Trisa villages, along the east coast of Vanimo, were supporting the call by Vanimo urban LLG councillor Richard Amuel to relocate the market.
“We, the landowners, want the trade centre moved from Wutung to Black Wara,” Amunti said.
Provincial administrator Joe Sungi could not be reached for comments.
