Miner, state agency fail minister

MINING Minister Byron Chan has expressed disappointment at Newcrest Mining Ltd and the National Planning Department for non-delivery of tax credit scheme commitments.
He said the scheme, endorsed last year by the joint district and budget priority committee and the provincial executive council for major infrastructure projects in the province had gone unnoticed as previously agreed by Newcrest and Planning.
“I’m totally disgusted at the manner in which companies and state departments responsible for delivering are not doing these.
“How can we foster relationships if commitments are not honoured?
“This is a total failure especially when our people need the basic services and other essentials,” he said..
“Therefore I’m calling on respective departments and companies that have made commitments to fulfil them.”
