Minimum prices for cars not set

MINIMUM prices for Apec vehicles advertised in public tender have not been disclosed because they have not been set, Finance Secretary and acting chairman of Central Supplies and Tenders Board (CSTB) Dr Ken Ngangan says.
He said this yesterday when asked to clarify why minimum prices for the vehicles were not disclosed through the public tender advertised through the Apec assets disposal exercise conducted by Government.
“Standard terms and conditions of public tender applies as I’ve always been explaining.
“There’s no minimum price.
“We have a reserved pricing through our Department of Works board of survey but that is confidential.
“No one should know that.”
He said as soon as bidders paid the K1000 bidding fee at the Finance cash office, they could take the receipt to the wharf.
Ngangan said security there would allow them access to physical inspections of the vehicles.
“Based on their own assessment, they put in a bid,” he said.
“A technical evaluation committee made up of representatives from Finance Department, Works Department, Central Supply and Tenders Board, State Solicitor, Apec Authority and other relevant state agencies will assess the bids and forward them to the CSTB board to deliberate and make awards.
“Bidders are expected to settle fully their approved bids before they pick up the vehicles.”
The media was taken on a tour last week by Finance Minister James Marape to the storage facility for Apec vehicles to do a headcount of the Maserati and Bentley cars. A headcount confirmed 40 Maserati and two Bentleys were intact.
One of the three Bentleys has been given to Government House to be used by the governor-general.
