The National Government through Agriculture and Livestock Minister Tommy Tomscoll should totally ban the import of rice and fresh produce. There are more positives in the banning of specified imported goods. It will be of more benefit to rural farmers, living standards will be improved, urban drift and crime will be reduced. I hope the farmers will welcome the proposed ban, which will also benefit the non- mining townships in terms of cash flow in those province from income generated from the sales of their fresh produce. The minister should also look at downstream processing of pineapples and mango.
