THE Government will set up a buying point for agriculture produce at Sialum in Tewai-Siassi, Morobe, according to Agriculture and Livestock Minister John Simon.
He announced this at Kanome Station in Sialum last Saturday when launching the Tewai-Siassi cattle farmers’ market support project.
Simon handed over K100,000 for cattle farm development, K100,000 for coffee development and K100,000 for cocoa development in Tewai-Siassi.
He directed the Livestock Development Corporation, Coffee Industry Corporation and PNG Cocoa Board to immediately send officers to the district.
When told about the abundance of farm produce in Tewai-Siassi, Simon said he would direct the Fresh Produce Development Authority to send an officer to the district.
He will work with local MP Kobby Bomareo and Morobe Governor Ginson Saonu to set up the buying point in Sialum.
“We will buy cocoa, coffee, copra and cattle here,” he said.
“How you take out your produce to the market is not your problem but my problem.
“You just look after your produce, remain in your villages, and continue with what you are doing.
“My job is to buy your produce and take it to the markets.”
