Minister sees increase in youth population the biggest challenge

THE biggest challenge the country is facing is the increase in its youth population, says Soroi Eoe, the Minister for Youth, Religion and Community Development.
He said the Government must address youth problems with care.
He told the national law and order summit in Lae last Wednesday that “youth is the biggest challenge this country faces”.
“It’s how this government addresses the youths that will determine the future of this country,” he said.
“We have had a National Youth Commission for some time but so far it has not adequately addressed the issue of youths.”
Eoe said it was important that when the country talked about law and order issues, they looked at the human side of things.
He said things such as family, gender issues, sorcery and family problems needed to be looked at.
“Family is the missing link to this discussion,” Eoe said.
