A LETTER purporting to be from acting Prime Minister Soroi Eoe initiating a meeting on “strategies for lockdown amid the surge of the Delta variant” has been slammed as fake by Minister for Health Jelta Wong.
The letter was circulated on all social media platforms with the signature of Eoe at the bottom of the letter wanting an urgent meeting with several people over the delta variant surge.
The letter was allegedly sent to Wong, Controller David Manning, deputy controller Dr Daoni Esrom, secretary for the Department of Education, secretary for the Department of Defence, secretary of Personnel Management, managing director of the National Broadcasting Commission and chief executive officer of the PNG Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
In the letter, it referenced an “urgent meeting at 10am, Saturday, Oct 2, on the third floor conference room, Morauta Haus, to discuss strategies and steps that we, as a country, should take to mitigate the surge of the delta variant”.
Wong confirmed that the letter was fake and no such letter had been sent to him.
