RUGBY league fans in Jiwaka and surrounding provinces will get to see three games at Minj Oval on Sunday with round 12 Digicel Cup triple header on.
Home side Waghi Tumbe take on competition leaders the Enga Mioks, Chimbu Warriors clash with the Hela Wigmen and the Mendi Muruks face the Goroka Lahanis. The PNGNRLC administrator Stanley Hondina said the Muruks, who were supposed to host the Lahanis at the Joe Keviame Oval in Mendi, had to shift their fixture to another venue after the unrest in the Southern Highlands provincial capital earlier in the week.
The Mioks, who drew with the Agmark Gurias 16-16 last week, face another stern test against the Tumbe, who are one of the in-form teams of the competition.
The Waghi men also proved their mettle by upsetting the Lahanis 24-20 last round and will be hard to beat at home.
Mioks assistant coach Thomas Neah said his side were confident they would do well in Minj after their performance last week in Kokopo.
“We played well against the Gurias at their home ground last week so we know we can handle it,” Neah said.
“We’re going in as underdogs and will give our best,” he said.
