In-house issues surrounding FC Momase forced the deferral of their National Soccer League (NSL) round nine match in Port Moresby over the weekend.
The game will now be played as a wash-out match, with a date yet to be confirmed.
The Papua New Guinea Football Association, via an email, informed the media of the deferral.
NSL manager Leslie Babaga said the FC Momase management, through manager Simon Koima, requested the game to be deferred due to “management issues”.
“I am not sure of the specifics surrounding the deferral but we got a request from FC Momase, so we informed their opponents Buang FC,” Babaga said.
“This will now be a wash-out match.”
FC Momase coach Rosen Matanga was caught off guard when he was notified after lunch on Friday.
Koima, the former NSL competition manager, could not be reached yesterday for further details about the reason behind requesting the deferral.
The deferral adds to the tally of wash-out matches in the semi-professional competition.
Southern Strikers v Buang FC and Southern Strikers v Besta PNG United are the other wash-out matches yet to be played.
Meanwhile, FC Morobe Wawens defeated Besta PNG United 3-1 in Lae and Toti City FC drew with Madang FC two goals apiece at the Laiwaden Oval in Madang.
Wawens’ win sees them leapfrog Madang FC into second on the ladder.
