Finance company Moni Plus has opened its first branch in Port Moresby and plans to open branches in all provinces throughout the country.
Managing director Gajanan Brave said it was looking to open 10 other branches this year.
Brave said the company would work with the Bank of Papua New Guinea to have a branch in every province.
“We will be bringing our services to people across the provinces, which will also see some products that have not been introduced to PNG so far,” he said.
Moni Plus is the trading name of Heduru Moni Ltd. It was incorporated by the BPNG and commenced trading in 1998.
The branch was opened by deputy governor of BPNG Ellison Pidik and founder of Moni Plus Bernard Chan.
Pidik said the bank has received a proposal by Moni Plus to open other branches in Lae, Mount Hagen, Kokopo and Alotau.
“On behalf of the bank we are pleased to note the programme of expanding services to others parts of the country,” he said.
“There is no better starting place to create wealth than to have access to financial services or banking services.”
Pidik thanked Moni Plus for having a plan to empower people and create wealth. He said the new branch would create competition in the market.
