COMMUNITY Hall Tigers stopped Guava Pirates 10-4 in the NCDC Morata Offseason Rugby League A grade pool B fixture at the Kone Tigers Oval on Saturday.
In the main game, Megusa Brothers edged Talapia Magpies 4-2 in match played in muddy and slippery conditions.
The other round nine games for A grade, Under-20s and women’s were all deferred to next week and the week ahead because of the condition of the field.
Tigers star recruit Central Dabaris Junior Belo at lock helped coordinate play and set up their attack which returned two tries to Robin Wesley and a conversion to Rudy Gideon in the first half.
Belo’s presence inspired his teammates who put up a strong effort on defence in the second half.
Pirates, who scored a try through hooker Darius Baluba in the first stanza, played with intent and tried hard but lacked quality finishing to cap off several promising moves and opportunities in the second 40 minutes.
