THE New Guinea Islands and Mamose can expect more rain this week, according to the National Weather Service.
“More rain is expected in those areas but it will ease over the weekend starting Thursday,” assisting director Jimmy Gomoga said.
Gomoga said floods experienced in West New Britain and Morobe were likely to continue.
The Highlands can also expect rain which will clear over the weekend.
Gale force winds are forecast along the southern parts of the country on the Indonesian border and to Milne Bay islands.
The warning extends to the Solomon Sea, Vitiaz Straight and Bismarck seas.
Gomoga said people should avoid going out to sea because the winds would be stronger than usual.
“It should subside over the weekend with possible rain to occur in Port Moresby and Central.”
Gomoga said centres experiencing flooding should be aware of water-borne diseases.
