More services needed for growing population

Letters

THE new government after the general election must urgently provide more social and economical services across the country to meet the demand of our growing population.
For instance, Port Moresby General Hospital was built in the 90s when the population was only 3-4 million.
Currently, with over 8 million population, the hospital is not in good capacity to provide effective services as desired.
There are shortage of specialist doctors, sick beds, drugs and testing kits.
For example, DNA antiviral loading testing machine is not here in the country yet.
The same applies to all the health, education, church, banks and marketing facilities throughout the country.
Many new schools are needed to be established in new provinces like Hela and Jiwaka.
The maintenances and extension work are required in all the existing schools and hospitals throughout the country to fight issues like over crowding, uneasiness, shortage of enrolment spaces and hospital sick beds.
The government also need to increase more workers, especially qualified people to play leading roles in fighting pandemic diseases like the Coronavirus (Covid-19).
Everything must change in parallel to the growing population, pandemic diseases and economic disasters the country is facing.
Time for sucking money in the name of development must stop, instead redirect the money into providing the realistic services to cater the growing population.
