POLICE in Morobe are putting up a plan to address several killings that are happening in Bulolo, Morobe police commander Supt Jacob Singura says.
“There is a rise in murder cases, especially in Wau and Bulolo,” he said, describing Bulolo as a murder hotspot. “We are putting in place some plans to ensure police in Wau and Bulolo are assisted to carry out awareness.”
Singura pointed out that one area of the plan would be to speed up investigations into outstanding cases by interviewing witnesses, parties concerned and the relatives of the deceased and those police suspected of committing the crime.
He said this was a serious issue that police in Morobe were trying to address before the country entered into the general election.
Meanwhile, Singura, when asked if he had an update on a recent fight among some villages in the Morobe Patrol Post area, Huon Gulf, said he was yet to get information on it.
He said a team of policemen had been sent to the area last week to investigate, arrest suspects and bring them to Lae.
In another police report, three alleged suicide cases – all involving male victims – were reported in Wain Erap local level government, Nawaeb, last month.
The incidents happened in the space of a week with the victims from different villages.
Two victims were newly married while the third was married with five children and grandchildren.
One of the victim’s son from Tinibing village, ward 6, Wain Erap, Jack Waibung told The National that his father committed suicide on Feb 8.
