THE people of Morobe are mourning the loss of their “First Lady” Stella Mua Naru, wife of Governor Kelly Naru.

Stella, 28, from Omkolai, Gumine, Chimbu, died in Port Moresby last Thursday while seeking treatment for her deteriorating health condition.

She leaves behind five children – three boys and two adopted girls.

Relatives at her haus krai at Parapi outside Lae said she had been ill for the past six months and had been seeking medical treatment.

Deputy Morobe Governor Morokoi Gaiwata said the cause of Stella’s death was yet to be ascertained.

“All government functions here at the provincial headquarters have temporarily ceased as a sign of respect to our governor over the death of his wife,” Gaiwata said.

“The provincial executive council members, provincial administration and people of Morobe are mourning the loss.”

“On behalf of the people of Morobe and the provincial administration I pass our heartfelt condolences to the governor and his children for their loss,” Gaiwata said.

Her body will be taken by Naru to Lae on Thursday morning where it will stop briefly at her Eriku home before being flown to Parapi.

The body will spend the night there before it is flown to Irom, Naru’s village.
