Morobe official thanks backers

MOROBE Football Association women’s team manager thanked business houses in backing her team to win the Momase leg of the Besta FA Cup last week.
Joyce Nathan said without the support of sponsors Lae Biscuit Company, Panamex Pacific (PNG), and International Food Corporation her side would not have been able to win the title.
She said the companies boosted the morale of her side through donations and funding.
“We are grateful to our sponsors for their great support. We appreciate their help and it did contribute to our performance,” Nathan said.
She said the Momase leg of the Besta FA Cup in Madang attracted 44 men’s team and eight women’s teams — the largest turn out fo teams.
“The women’s teams were categorise in two pools and we came on top of our pool beating Wau 11-0. We drew 0-0 with Madang 2 and beat Vanimo 4-0 in our last pool match.
“We played Pool A’s second placed side Wampar and beat them 1-0 qualifying for the final against host Madang 1.”
Nathan said the final was tough but Morobe were able to rise to the occasion beating Madang 1-0.
