LAE police captured two of East Sepik’s most-wanted criminals last week, police say.
East Sepik provincial police commander Robert Gesa said the two men had been on the run for almost four months until they were caught through a combined Lae and Yangoru police operation,
Theo Wani Nevian is wanted for robbery and murder of a bus driver along Wingei Highway in Yangoru, while Jude Juaraie is wanted for armed hold-up and rape of women passengers along the Sepik Highway. Gesa said they escaped to Lae though Madang until caught in a settlement last week.
Yangoru-Saussia and Minister for National Planning and Monitoring Richard Maru has thanked Lae police for supporting their Yangoru counterparts.
“Yangoru-Saussia has no place for criminals and we will hunt them down until we get them,” he said.
“I am sure the families and the victims will now be happy and relieved that these two, and their other gang members, will now face the full force of the law and justice.”
Gesa said the two men were flown under police escort to Wewak and to Yangoru police station.
