MT Hagen District Court placed a mother of one on a three-month good behaviour bond for threatening and destroying properties belonging to her father-in-law.
Magistrate Lydia Karre found Micklyn Buka, 24, from Polkim village in Hagen central, guilty of two of the charges on Wednesday and put her on good behaviour bond.
Buka was charged with damaging property and threatening to kill her father-in-law, a Mt Hagen based policeman, using her mobile phone.
Police said on Aug 27 last year, at around 7.30pm, Buka went to her father-in-law’s house at Gomis Police Barracks and destroyed an electric jar, a rice cooker and a deep fryer, all costing K600.
Police said according the father-in-law, it was not the first time she had done that.
Buka told the court that her father-in-law bought a ticket for his son to fly down to Port Moresby to marry another woman from Mul Baiyer, Western Highlands.
She told the court that her husband left her and their son and that she was looking after him by herself. She said frustration built up and she did what she did to show her anger.
Magistrate Karre told Buka that her father-in-law was not her husband, but a policeman and law enforcer.
She said the defendant didn’t show any respect to the law and her father in-law.
She told her that she should have controlled her anger and brought the matter to the Tarangau village court to resolve it peacefully.
Magistrate Karr told her not to call or send threatening text messages to her father-in-law or go near his premises.
She found her guilty of the two offences of damaging property and threatening and placed her on a good behaviour bond.
