Smallholder farmers who cultivate oil palm under land resettlement schemes in West New Britain are affected by low income and over-population, Governor Sasindran Muthuvel says.
He said he would look to the Government and the World Bank to address these issues.
Muthuvel said the World Bank had carried out the sustainable agriculture development programme (SADP) but had closed it two years ago.
He said he would arrange to meet with the Government and the World Bank to have the SADP programme re-established.
