A WARD councillor in Wosera-Gawi district, East Sepik, is calling on MP Joseph Yopiyopi to return to the district and fix infrastructure.

Councillor for ward 27 in Wosera Ben Wangi said infrastructures such as schools, teachers’ houses and aid posts were run-down and needed immediate maintenance.

Wangi said Yopiyopi had been spending more time in Port Moresby and not visiting and assisting development in the district after he was elected to parliament.

“We have several issues to discuss with him and he’s always in Port Moresby,” he said.

“I urge the prime minister to instruct Yopiyopi to come to Wosera-Gawi and sort out his district.”

Wangi said Wosera-Gawi was one of the least develop districts in the country.

He said other districts such as Yangoru-Saussia and Maprik were fast developing while Wosera-Gawi was miles behind in terms of development.

“Yopiyopi is the key person to change this district because he is the decision maker to all government funds under his office meant for the people,” Wangi said.

No comment could be obtained from Yopiyopi.
