MORE than 75,000 people of Henganofi in Eastern Highlands will enjoy better rural road network following a dedication service of K2 million worth of plant equipment at the Henganofi station yesterday.

Local MP Robert Atiyafa opted to put the machine in the custody of churches because he said they would be used to serve God’s people.

He said the equipment and a support vehicle and two dump trucks would be used to upgrade deteriorating rural roads and bridges.

Two more dump trucks will be added on to the excavator, roller, front-end loader, a grader and two dump trucks which were dedicated yesterday.

“These are for you the people of Henganofi, if I go after five years, they will remain in the district,” Atiyafa said.

He urged the people to leave political differences aside and work with him to improve their livelihood.

The leader said he had spent K1.2 million on school fees for more than 1,600 Henganofi students studying in tertiary institutions in PNG.

Atiyafa also told the people that he had already secured K500,000 for next year’s school fees.

“It will continue every year until 2017.

“I paid school fees across the board despite some are children of candidates that contested the election with me.

“I am committed to change the mindset of the people and bring them to the next level.

“But please limit the number of children you plan to have, have only two or three children. I want to help you to invest in your children’s education,” Atiyafa said.
