MADANG MP Nixon Duban has given K100,000 to the Panim Seventh-Day Adventist Primary school in Madang for the upgrading of its facilities.

Headmaster Michael Jimmy said the school was to be upgraded into a high school in 2009 (with Transgogol and Good Shepherd primary schools) but it lacked infrastructure.

Jimmy said students selected to go up to Grade 9 had to be sent to the Lokobo High School in Manus, Kabiufa in Eastern Highlands and Paglum in Western Highlands.

Jimmy said the students had no choice but to leave their homes to acquire education in other provinces.

Duban said the money should be used to improve facilities and develop it into a high school. He told Jimmy to use the K100,000 quickly, provide acquittals and request for more so that the school could get high school status quickly.

The school heavily depends on tithes and offerings from SDA Church members in the country to keep it going. Jimmy said Duban’s intervention to help the school was timely.
