MP focuses on quality education

POMIO MP Elias Kapavore is focusing on delivering quality education to children in his electorate.
Kapavore said his district was the least developed in East New Britain but comprised of three quarters of province’s total land area.
“Despite the district’s challenging geography, being host to more than three quarters of the land mass in East New Britain, my district is focused on quality education outcomes,” he said.
“Many see the geographical terrain and huge land mass as a challenge, but I see it as an opportunity to create change that impacts on the livelihoods of our citizens.
“We have three secondary schools, of course, one administered by the Adventist church, one high school with more than 50 primary schools scattered across the five local level governments.”
Kapavore said the Incentive Fund supported the construction of eight classrooms and four science laboratories for Palmalmal Secondary School in 2019.
“We are grateful to this gesture,” he said.
Pomio development authority (DDA) committed K1.5 million for a new double classroom with science laboratories at Warangoi Secondary School which was commissioned this year.
Kapavore donated 80 chairs and tables to the school bought from the discretionary fund.
“Many of our female students are given the opportunity to excel and to strive towards their goals.
“With the improvement to science facilities, our students can continue to perform better.”
