HUON Gulf MP Ross Seymour has given his assurance that education and health will be among his priorities along with infrastructure and economic projects within the district.

Paul Joshua, who is the first agriculture secretary, announced this during independence anniversary celebrations at Gabmazung primary in Wampar, Morobe.

He said that Seymour would commit K10,000 to Gabmazung with the student academic excellence programme and parents and citizen (P&C) projects getting K5,000 each.

Joshua said PNG acquired its independence “without guns, bullets and blood”.

“Therefore during independence anniversary, citizens need to stop, think and asked themselves ‘am I truly independent’ or are we still struggling to become independent.”

“Such occasions bring unity that we can be proud of but let’s stop for a moment and reflect on individual and family welfare and wellbeing to make changes in life” Joshua said.

Meanwhile provincial community representative Amos Wallace committed K21,500 from his unconditional grant to schools and youths in Salamaua and Wampar villages.
