KABWUM MP Patrick Basa’s dream is to see Kabwum Secondary School become a school of excellence one day.
Basa made the statement during the opening of a double-storey dormitory at the school last weekend.
The dormitory was opened by former prime minister and Ialibu-Pangia MP Peter O’Neill.
Basa’s commitment to the school, since it became a secondary school stands at K2.6 million.
“This school will not be where it is today if parents had not contributed their resources to build it,” he said.
“It’s a Government-run school in which the government is expected support with funds.
“But if we wait on the Government, the school will not see changes.
“If we put our belief to build a church, likewise, we must build this school because the blessing of knowledge will come from this school.
“And we will have more blessing if we give our resources free to develop this school.”
With the increase in student population, the school still needs classrooms, a library, a science laboratory and teachers houses.
“We will have first grade 12 graduation this year and if one or two go to a university, I promise you a holiday will be declared in Kabwum,” Basa said.
