WEWAK district development authority (DDA) board chairman and local MP Kevin Isifu says improving education quality is a major priority in his electorate.
He said the DDA through its integrated development plan, would work with the Education Department and school boards to improve schools through infrastructure and staff training.
Isifu made known to the people during his presentation of K200,000 to St Peter Chanel’s Primary School in Turubu local level government (LLG) for a double classroom project last week.
Isifu commended the hard working teachers and school board.
He said the district services improvement programme (DSIP) allocation was in line with the DDA’s development plans for education.
“I believe school boards have the capacity and governance processes in place to manage school projects.”
School board chairman Campbell Woruba said the DDA’s support was timely to help the school catch up with the developments in education in towns and cities.
Isifu said he would ensure an equal distribution of resources and good governance regarding DSIP funding for infrastructure development in education in Wewak.
