A BUSINESSwoman in Western Highlands has donated food to Mt Hagen Hospital to help feed patients.
Evelyn Wak, the owner of Sweat Clothing, said she did it out of concern for the sick.
The donation included seven bags of sweet potatoes, two bags of cabbages, five 20kg bags of rice, four cartons of noodles and four bottles of cooking oil.
Wak, from Koglamp village in Mt Hagen, said businesses and those who could needed to assist public service providers such as hospitals who carried out vital services, sometimes with a lack of adequate funding.
Wak has previously made donations including in cash to the hospital to support its provincial Covid-19 operations.
She said sharing and giving to those in need was a Christian principle.
“God blessed everyone in many different ways and I wanted to use my blessings to help fellow Western Highlanders and others who are in need,” she said. Mt Hagen Hospital acting manager Dr Joseph Kuk said it was encouraging to see individuals in the community giving to the hospital.
“Wak has set a good example for others to follow and help the hospital at this time when it is having difficulty feeding its patients due to financial constraints.”
