MP signs MoU with Digicel PNG

 TELEFOMIN MP Solan Mirisim has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Digicel PNG to enhance communication and ICT services to his remote electorate in West Sepik.

The MoU was signed in parliament on Tuesday and signals the start of a collaborative process for the next three years in which nine Digicel towers will to be erected in specific locations recommended by the Telefomin district administration.

Mirisim said in a statement that communication enhancement was one of his priority development areas and thanked Digicel for its continued efforts to improve its telecommunications services in the most remote parts of the country.

“I am confident in what Digicel can do for the people of Telefomin in the area of communications and I am sealing this trust through the document signed. Now that we have the deal in black and white, I will provide the necessary information that Digicel needs in order to get this project up and running as soon as possible,” he said.

He also said the enhancement of telecommunications service would help his people to link up with friends and relatives around the country and abroad while opening up markets for farmers through information sharing using voice calls and the SMS service.
