By ZACHERY PER
CULTURE and Tourism Minister Guma Wau will be tried in the National Court on an attempted murder charge on June 30.
A National Court circuit in Kundiawa, Chimbu, yesterday set the date for the Kerowagi MP to stand
trial on charges of attempted murder using firearm.
Wau attempted to shoot on John Agaundo at the Urinigle section of the Highlands Highway last year.
He allegedly shot the victim in his leg and another accomplice of the MP allegedly attempted to cut his (Agaundo’s) arm.
Agaundo was admitted to Kundiawa General Hospital.
He went through a series of operations for months before being released.
A committal hearing in Kundiawa last year has found that the minister has a case to answer and committed him to stand trial in the National Court.
Staff at the Kundiawa court house said Wau appeared with his lawyer Gabriel Gendua yesterday.
Presiding acting National Court judge Justice Lawrence Kangwia adjourned the matter to June 30.
