THE Morobe health authority has been urged to review its operational and management issues to prevent the closure of basic health services following a closure notice from the Etep Rural Hospital executive management team.
Tewai-Siassi MP Dr Kobby Bomareo, after announcing government assistance to Lutheran Health Services running the Etep Rural and Braun Memorial hospitals, asked the health authority to review its services, especially when Coronavirus (Covid-19) was killing citizens.
“Morobe people are being threatened as it shares borders with Eastern Highlands, which is currently under attack by Covid-19,” he said.
He acknowledged the Evangelical Lutheran church of PNG through the Lutheran Health Services for providing the services to his people through the two institutions.
Dr Bomareo wants a review of the authority concept as management issues have been affecting operations of aid posts, health centres, district hospitals and rural hospitals in the province.
He announced a donation commitment of an ambulance and funds to Etep Rural Hospital.
