YOUTHS living at the Minogere Police Barracks in Goroka, Eastern Highlands, will be engaged to clean up the barracks to earn money for their school fees, Goroka MP Aiye Tambua says.
He made this known at the barracks on Monday when he was there to present money to the women’s small-medium enterprises (SME) groups.
“The barracks used to be the pride of police in Goroka in the early days, today, it is not like in the past, youths living in the barracks will be engaged to do cleaning up and they will be paid money that will go towards their school fees,” Tambua said.
He said “the money you will get will not be free; the officer-in-charge of the barracks and Goroka town authority engineer will be engaged to assist”.
Tambua, the son of a policeman, who grew up at the Minogere barracks, said with a no-care attitude today, the barracks had lost its pride.
