MPs have let people down

Letters, Normal

THE so-called Members of Parliament, who have been given the mandate by the people to be their voice in Parliament to bring positive developments, have let the people of PNG down.
The Maladina amendment that was passed to make the OC toothless was a decision only a self-centred person would make.
Morobe Governor Luther Wenge’s statement in The National (April 13) regarding the amendment clearly showed of lack of representation by the respective MPs in Parliament.
The Constitution belongs to each and every citizen of this nation and people like Moses Maladina should not amend the Constitution in just one Parliament sitting.
It should take years of debate before the bill is passed.
MPs should leave the Constitution alone as it is the heart and soul of Papua New Guinea.
They should not amend the Constitution to suit their corrupt ways.
