MPs pledge solidarity

A MEMORANDUM of understanding has been signed by 55 MPs in the Opposition camp to remain united in order to form an alternative government.
The MPs also signed the Wutung Call to Action representing a 12-month work plan to revive the PNG economy.
They said the MPs wanted to turn around the economy which was on a slide.
They returned to Port Moresby from Vanimo on Sunday where they had spent two weeks, boasting a list of 57 MPs on their side.
They now have 55 after Kagua-Erave MP Wesley Raminai rejoined Government and National Capital District Governor Powes Parkop confirming he is yet to decide which camp to join.
Opposition Leader Belden Namah also welcomed the decision by the Supreme Court on Monday to proceed with a case filed by Ialibu-Pangia MP Peter O’Neill challenging the legality of a sitting of Parliament on Nov 17.
“We are happy with the outcome and we appeal to the (Government) camp to also respect the decision of the court,” he said.
Namah is confident that with the 55 in Opposition, they will execute their plan to change the Government.
New Ireland Governor Sir Julius Chan said the Opposition team had prepared the Wutung Call to Action plan for the alternative government.
Our Development Party leader Charles Abel said the MPs had begun a brave journey.
“It was not easy for 11 ministers and a deputy prime minister to make a bold decision as such to leave their comfort zones,” he said.

  • Charles Abel how much have you achieved in your much talked about 100 Days plan when you were DPM. Nothing!

    • EJ. That’s the question you should ask Marape. Unless you were blind or deaf, you would have read or seen O’neil Government 100 day achievement back then.
