MRA staff complete studies overseas

SIX project coordinators from the Mineral Resources Authority have graduated from the Centre for Social Responsibility in Mining at the University of Queensland, Australia
The graduates are Carter Oiee, John Ipidari, Jonathan David, Joe Kak Ryangao, Wesly Doria and Joel Igape.
They received certificates in Responsible Resource Development.
Doria and Ipape said the course was relevant to the kind of work they did.
They appreciated the skills learnt in stakeholder relations, community development, conflict resolution and incorporation of key international development frameworks.
MRA managing director Philip Samar said managing landowner issues on the ground was a difficult task and project coordinators needed to be properly equipped to provided their services.
The Centre for Social Responsibility in Mining is a research leader committed to improving the social performance of the industry globally.
The institute’s focus is on the social, cultural, economic and political challenges that occur when change is brought about by mineral resource extraction.
