Mt Hagen are looking forward to taking on Aporro Mai in round four of the Kumul Petroleum National Soccer League Highlands Conference at the National Sports Institute in Goroka tomorrow.
Mt Hagen coach Aiyoka Ungia said his side were upbeat after coming off a 3-0 win over the Blue Kumuls last weekend.
“After going down to the strongest team in our conference, Kagua Erave, in round one and playing out a draw with Simbu Angra in round two, our potential was on display last weekend when we beat the Blue Kumuls,” Ungia said.
“All my charges played very well.
“This week, we went through the areas that we lacked.
“Midfielder Philip Apo was good in our last game.
“Using his NSL experience, he scored two goals.
“Under his leadership, we are ready to win more games.
“Goalkeeper Enoch Maliwalo was good in preventing our opponents from scoring.
“I’m planning to use midfielder Duiney Benny, forward Stanley Sabao and captain Augustine Apo to lead our side too.
“We have good combinations in the midfield.
“My emphasis to the players is to improve on their finishes.
“We had a lot of chances last weekend but we were unable to put them away.
“We have to tighten our defence and improve in attack if we are to win our match this weekend.”
