Mt Hagen resident judge Terrance Foulds passes on

THE Office of the Chief Justice has confirmed the death of Mt Hagen-based judge Terrance Foulds.
A spokesperson from the office told The National yesterday that Foulds died in Mt Hagen on Monday.
The spokesperson did not go into details on circumstances surrounding the death but said that Chief Justice Sir Salamo Injia would release an official statement later.
The death of Foulds is the second for the PNG judiciary this year.
In April this year the Justice Martin Ipang died at the age of 52.
Foulds was 69 and from Australia.
He was appointed as a judge in PNG by the Judicial and Legal Services Commission on Oct 31, 2016 to serve a three-year term.
Foulds completed his law degree at the University of Western Australia and was admitted as Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of the Australian Capital Territory and all Federal Courts in 1975. He was also admitted as a Barrister of the Supreme Court of Tasmania in 1977 and later admitted as a solicitor in 1981.
In 1980, he was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland. He has worked for a number of Australian governments and justice agencies since 1971 and has extensive experience, appearing before tribunals and court cases in the Supreme Court of Tasmania. From 1991 to 1994 he served as the Crown Solicitor of the Norfolk Islands and has experience in both civil and criminal litigation.
