THE Melanesian Tourist Services Ltd (MTS) has recently opened its new in-house cinema at Madang Resort in Madang, managing director Sir Peter Barter says.
Sir Peter said: “The new cinema is an air conditioned in-house cinema, which would show latest released movies on a high definition giant screen with high fidelity audio sound”.
The cinema is located in the resort’s main refurbished foyer and has a cocktail bar, which would serve snacks and pizza.
Sir Peter said the cinema would be used to educate tourists visiting Madang.
“The cinema would also be used to show PNG documentaries to visiting tour groups, so they can learn more about PNG and help them to understand the many cultures in Madang and Papua New Guinea,” he said.
He said MTS provided the best facilities for tourists.
“MTS has always maintained that tourists and visitors do not travel to a destination without a purpose,” he said.
“We need to provide facilities to make their stay as enjoyable as possible.”
The resort offers diving cruises, sightseeing tours, bikes, kayaks, sailing boats, tennis and a variety of meeting venues to host events.
“The Madang Resort and the Kalibobo village is a retreat in a safe environment in a beautiful location,” he said.
“The objective is to attract more tourists to visit PNG, away from Port Moresby, which regardless of recent development it doesn’t project the true image of PNG,” Sir Peter said.
Madang Resort had recently won TripAdvisor’s hall of fame award, after winning five consecutive years of excellence.
