Mudmen lead competition

THE Mudmen took the Curtain Brothers T20 Smash lead after bowler Daure Lohia took six wickets to help win back-to-back matches against the Cassowaries and Mariners at Amini Park in Port Moresby on Monday.
The Mudmen defeated the Cassowaries by 59 runs with opener batsmen Gaudi Toka (55 off 41 balls) helping his side reach seven for 148 in the first innings.
Impressive bowling saw Lohia take three wickets while Norman Vanua bagged a double, to help bowl out the Cassowaries for 89 runs off 13.4 overs.
Lohia took another three wickets in their second game against the Mariners while Kabua Vagi Morea bagged two to see the Mariners all out for 100 runs off 18.2 overs.
Lega Siaka led the chase for the Mudmen after scoring 43 runs off 29 balls to see his side score four for 103 and win the match by six wickets.
The Mudmen have now won four from five matches while the Black Bass and Cassowaries have each registered three wins and two losses since the start of the tournament last week.
The luckless Mariners have yet to register a win in the tournament with Papua New Guinea Barramundis skipper Assad Vala and his men yet to find their feet in the tournament.
Week-two action continues today with the Mudmen facing the Black Bass in the morning and the Mariners meeting the Cassowaries in the afternoon.
The final round of regular matches will be played on Friday.
