Mum of student who died in Chinese jail wants his body back

THE mother of a Papua New Guinea student who died in a Chinese prison last month is calling on the Government to help bring her son home.
Lilly Kulara, 56, from Enga, said that she just wanted her “baby” home in Papua New Guinea so she could bury him on his land.
“Tyson was just 24 years old, so full of life, when he left to go study in China,” Kulara said.
“I was so proud of him. I knew he would come back and become somebody great.
“I never expected to hear that he was dead in some Chinese prison.”
Lilly said that she was shocked and heartbroken and so confused over her son’s death.
“As a mother, I just want my baby back. I don’t know where he is, what morgue his body is being held at or where in China.
“I call upon the Government to please help us.
“We need consular support to find his body and bring him back home.”
Tyson was studying accounting at Liaoning University of Technology in Jingzhou province when he was arrested and detained in a prison. Later he was transferred to a prison in Dalian where he died on Jan 27.
Lilly said that she didn’t know why her son was arrested.
“They’re saying that he died of cardiac arrest while he was in prison.”
